Optimization of electric bus scheduling considering stochastic volatilities in trip travel time and energy consumption

This paper develops a vehicle scheduling method for the electric bus (EB) route considering stochastic volatilities in trip travel time and energy consumption. First, model estimating consumption is proposed based on field-collected data, probability distribution function of volatility determined. Second, we propose charging strategy to recharge buses during their idle times. The impacts departure time, battery state charge, each are analyzed. Third, an optimization built with objectives minimizing expectation delays times, summation expectations, procurement costs. Finally, real taken as example validate method. Results show that reasonable times can be generated by optimizing plan, it helpful stop accumulation volatilities. Collaboratively plans reduce EB fleet delay while meeting operation needs.
